8/21/2023 0 Comments Download games like quernObduction takes you further into wilder and more deeply-defined worlds, with histories and irrelevant details merely included to flesh out the world. They also didn't freeze you in place and monologue at you (Looking at you nameless green puff of self-assured phloating phlegm). Quern is extensively better than Obduction!Ĭounterpoint: I liked Quern a lot, but Obduction kicked twelve kinds of butt and also had much more fun and interesting characters (Love you forever Josef!). I'm a huge myst fan but dont let obduction fool you because cyan or Rand was involved. Originally posted by Vern:First off- Avoid Obduction! its s a walking sim with nothing but back tracking. played Scratches recently and I thought it was terrible, a knife could prise a bit of would of the wall but a screw driver couldnt.stupid things like that do my head in.Ĭurrently going through HAVEN MOON and im soooooo stuck! couple of things have really bugged me so far but its a nice game. I always judge a puzzler on that factor, if im stuck for an hour trying all sorts to advance or no options left with no logical way out, the game starts to lose brownie points. Fair enough Minion, I totally understand where youre coming from! Quern has an extermely well balanced logic curve where you always feel you can try something else or search a different section for something you might have missed. Idiotproof linear story and being given new puzzles when it's sure I went through all the previous puzzles. Obduction had some huge map for starters and I had no clue where to begin. It's so overwhelming and I have a sense that I have no idea what I'm doing, Then I proceed to get lost af and I don't want to play the game anymore. In other games I got thrown into a game and got millions of puzzles at hand but no hints how to do them. In Quern you get a small space to work with and as the time progresses and you solve puzzles you are given access to new areas with new puzzles. ASA is a gorgeous game, cant recommend it enough-cheap too You should check it out, no release date as of yet though. Sorry for going on so much but I dont want any enthusiastic gamers out there to miss out on pure gaming brilliance as I know how very close I came to missing out.Īlso Riven is being remade into a full 360 game (code name THE STARRY EXPANSE PROJECT) by a small team called 59volts, just like real myst was. You need paper and pen always and the satisfaction of solving things is very rewarding!! I remember trying myst many years ago quite a few years after its release, and lasted 10 minutes, months later a friend recommended it as he had gotten quite into it, I gave it another try to keep him happy to see if I could get further into the game.It is now my FAVOURITE game series of everything I have ever played! (I have played a lot of games) Riven is my #1 game ever! the puzzels are ridiculously hard but all makes sense and everything would actually function. Myst, Riven and Myst Exile (1,2 and 3) are the most incredible games out there for puzzle adventures. Didn't get the turing test yet and I just missed a sale a week ago, so r.i.p. In the meantime I aslo got Quantum Conundrum and I really enjoyed it, recommended. I got FAR: Lone Sails, one of my best decisions in life. I got Lake Ridden and though it's more of a walking sim I enjoyed it greatly, probably more for it's flawless execution of the atmosphere, but the puzzles were coposed very nicely. I had some troubles in the end but it didn't stop me from finishing the game. I bought realMyst remastered but it had the same problem as obduction, plus the aged graphics. EDIT: RiME was chugging real bad on my pc, obduction had a problem where I had zero f idea what to do, so I was more annoyed than entertained by "mystery", Xing felt like a chore after an hour of gameplay, not even sure why. What else is similiar? I also wouldn't mind some reviews about the games I listed in case someone played them. On my "maybe" list I have Lake Ridden and The Turing Test. I want to get myself RiME, Obduction, Xing and The Eyes of Ara. I absolutely love this concept and I'm looking for suggestions to fill up my library in the upcoming Summer Sale. Which games do you guys recommend which are similiar to Quern? Nice story and puzzle based.
